Letter to Parents

August 2010
Dear Parents,

Welcome to another exciting season in Amherst Youth Basketball.  AYB is currently preparing for another season by getting our website ready for registration and securing agreements with the various facilities that we play in.

We also are excited about the continued relationship with Dick’s Sporting Goods Store. They are supplying bags, balls,  score books, and other items for most of our teams this year. We are also planning an AYB family day at the store on Transit Road and we will  be having a walk-in registration at the Dick's Store at the same location.  More information on these events is available on our home page, under "Important Dates".

This year we are continuing our high school girl’s division as we enter our fourth year for this division under the direction of Jed Dutweiler. This division is for high school girls who do not play varsity basketball at their high school. Please register online before the deadline of November 6, 2010.  You may also register in person on November 6 at 4pm which is the first day of play for this division.  This division will always play at Clearfield and the times for the games are 3, 4, or 5pm.  Your coach will give you the details.   Also, the boys high school division will start on November 14 at 6pm at Clearfield.  We urge you to register on line but you may register in person on November 14.

We will also continue our code of conduct for players, parents, spectators, and coaches to follow. One aspect of AYB’s philosophy is that all people conduct themselves in the proper manner and this code of conduct stresses that.  Parents are asked to download a copy, read it, sign it, and return it to your child's coach on the first day of practice.

So, we are looking forward to another great season of AYB basketball. I strongly encourage you to register online by October 13.   If you register by this date, this helps us to determine how many teams in each division we will need.  I hope all of you will have a fun season.

Sincerely,

Brad Tichenor
AYB President
